About Unison Industries

Unison Industries’ story began in 1980 when entrepreneur Freerick Sontag acquired Slick Electro, an Illinois based piston aircraft ignition manufacturer. Reestablishing as Unison Industries, the company began acquiring businesses as they expanded. In 1988, Unison Industries released the world’s first solid state turbine ignition system. Through the 1990’s, Unison expanded upon their product portfolio, introducing dedicated alternators and solid state exciters among other products. By the end of the century, Unison Industries began expanding internationally, opening a manufacturing facility in Mexico. In 2002, Unison was acquired by GE and became a wholly-owned subsidiary. Two years later, they were merged with Elano Corporation and have since continued to develop new products for their lineup, as well as acquire new businesses.
